Structured, Effective and Safe Reconditioning of the Pelvic Floor
Pelvic floor physical therapy focuses on the rehabilitation of dysfunction involving the muscles, connective tissues, reproductive organs and nerves located within the pelvis. It is performed by a physical therapist with specialized training in the assessment and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction. This includes conditions related to the control of the bladder and bowels, sexual dysfunction, organ prolapse and pelvic pain.
Wellington Regional Medical Center’s Pelvic Floor Therapy Program offers comprehensive pelvic floor rehabilitation for people of all gender identities. Our team of physical and occupational therapists work with patients who have these and other diagnoses:
- Urinary incontinence, urgency and frequency
- Painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis
- Pregnancy and postpartum needs
- Sexual health dysfunction, such as vaginismus, vulvodynia
- Pelvic girdle pain
- Symptoms related to cancer treatment
